Revelation 22:16, TPT I, Jesus sent my angel to you to give you this testimony to share with the congregations. I am the bright Morning Star, both David’s spiritual root and his descendant. |

Here, Jesus calls Himself the bright Morning Star and the footnote in my Bible says this: As the Lord of glory, Jesus is the bright Morning Star who signals the end of the night and the beginning of God’s perfect day. (1) The bright Morning Star is an actual celestial occurrence that happens while the sky is still completely dark and just before the sun is about to rise. The Morning Star is actually the planet Venus and not a star at all. In the utter darkness, a small, but vibrantly bright light appears. Here is what is actually happening: When Venus rises, it means the sun will follow very soon (in the morning, usually within an hour or two, just a matter of minutes). (2) This is a beautiful picture of hope in our darkest moments and the promise that if we continue to persevere in our faith in God in whatever we are believing Him for, that Jesus will show Himself in our lives, encouraging our faith till the full light of day appears. In Christ’s first coming, as a baby to this earth, He was that bright Morning Star that appeared to this broken and dark world heralding that a new day had arrived for humanity. This small child was the light of promise fulfilled shining in the darkness. The heavens rejoiced that this light, the hope of all the earth, was born. Jesus’ name, Bright Morning Star, also refers to Christ’s second coming when He returns to this earth and takes His children home and all our tears will be wiped away. If you are holding onto a promise from the Lord and you have not yet seen it come to pass, Jesus, our bright Morning Star is there to encourage us to continue in our faith because it won’t be long till the fullness of the light appears and ushers in a new day of joy in your life as you see promises fulfilled. Proverbs 4:18, NLT The way of the righteous is like the first gleam of dawn, which shines ever brighter until the full light of day. |
