Hi! We’re Sean and Paula Finch, we have the privilege pastoring and leading Family Church Portsmouth, a culturally diverse congregation where everyone is welcome. 
 
Our passion is to see people walking in freedom and love supporting people to grow in their walk with the Lord and their God given identity. 
 
We have three wonderful young children, who love our amazing church family. We can’t wait to meet you and welcome you home!

BABIES & TODDLERS

FIRST STEPS

First Steps provides the support necessary for families bringing babies and young toddlers to Family Church

This includes providing a safe and fun environment for our youngest family members, so that their earliest experiences of church will be positive.

Very young children value the security of being around someone they know, so we ask that you stay with them if necessary.

PRESCHOOLERS

LITTLE STARS

Little Stars is a safe place for our young children to grow and learn about Jesus. It is about praise and worship, prayer and teaching in ways that toddlers and preschoolers can understand.

Little Stars do everything that ‘big church’ does, but with more colours, toys, games, glue, paint and bubbles!

With stories, music and craft the kids engage all their senses and develop strong foundations before moving onto Rising Stars.

YRR to YR2

RISING STARS

Rising Stars provides an exciting, lively, fun programme with games, craft activities, worship, teaching, DVDs, object lessons and stories.


We aim to encourage the children to find out more about God, to ask questions, explore and develop their faith.

Everyone is welcome and we hope you’ll come along and see for yourself how exciting it is to be part of Kid’s Church at Family Church!

YR3 to Yr6

ALLSTARS

Allstars provides an exciting, lively, fun programme with games, craft activities, worship, teaching, DVDs, object lessons and stories.

We aim to encourage the children to find out more about God, to ask questions, explore and develop their faith.

Everyone is welcome and we hope you’ll come along and see for yourself how exciting it is to be part of Kids Church at Family Church!

SHINING STARS & Rockets

Family Church Portsmouth is a “Through the Roof” church. The vision of Through the Roof (what we want to achieve) is: ‘All people enjoying life together, mutually giving and receiving, as God intended’.

The mission of Through the Roof is: ‘Transforming lives through Jesus with disabled people’ – this is why we do what we do.

Through the Roof achieve this through two strategic aims.  Through the Roof will:

  • Provide life-changing opportunities for disabled people
  • Equip churches and the Christian community to fully involve disabled people

SHINING STARS

Shining Stars is the team who serve children attending Kids Church who need extra support.

Our Shining Stars workers ensure that children with learning difficulties, special needs, or significant behavioural issues are given the support that they need to thrive in Kids Church and to develop their personal relationship with God.

We provide one-to-one support where necessary and where possible, liaising with parents/carers to ensure the individual child’s needs are understood.

ROCKETS

Rockets provides a space for children and young people who have additional needs to engage with their church family and with God in a way that is relevant to them.

Ignition Youth

Iginition runs in Portsmouth every Sunday for those in school Yr 7 to Yr 9.

Each week we start out in the main service, but then leave for Ignition after the worship.

Our heart is for our young people to develop their own personal relationship with God and to know Him for themselves, believing wholeheartedly that ‘Those who KNOW their God will do great exploits.’ (Daniel 11:32)

Throughout the year we also run Encounter Nights, trips and socials. This is a great opportunity for the young people to build on their friendships within Ignition and have a LOT of fun.

Momentum Youth

Momentum runs in Portsmouth every Friday night for those in school Yr 7 to Yr 13.

1830 is a weekly gathering of Young Adults and Students aged 18 to 30.

It is a place to hangout, form friendships and grow together. We would love to see you there!
