We can’t believe it’s July already!
We’ve been living in Zambia with Oli for almost 4 months now. After working out that there is no way to predict what each day will look like with a constantly changing team, schedule and baby, we’ve settled into a bumpy rhythm of life here. One of our favorite moments from this past month was getting to do our first camping trip as a family. We took a week with some of the OM missions students to visit Sioma, an outlying base 6 hours away, that’s home to some of our friends and co-workers. Not only was it a great and refreshing week of fellowship and ministry, but trips like that are always so important for our vision. With our roles being supportive and logistical it’s too easy to forget the big picture and the reason for what we do. Weeks where we get to see the fruit of vehicles being fixed, supplies being sent, and missionaries being refreshed remind us of the purpose in our movements and work.

Spending time in Sioma with our friends and their beach!

During this season I (Lilly) have been so blessed to be able to spend time at home with Oli, we’ve worked through eating issues, reflux and are now quickly on our way to his first tooth. He is gaining weight like a champ, smiling at everyone he meets and in 4 days will be 6 months old! Raising our family on the mission field has always been important to us and it’s so exciting to see Oli already loving this life.  I’m so thankful for the grace of our co-workers and supporters, allowing me the freedom to be Mom right now. While there is still admin & logistical work I’m involved in, a lot of it is done from my kitchen table with Oli right next to me.

Meanwhile Joe has been all over the place. Driving expeditions to and from remote locations, fixing vehicles, managing an ever growing missions base and this week preparing to teach classes on 4×4 driving, vehicle mechanics and bush driving.  Two weeks ago he put on his fancy suit and preached at a graduation in town as “Pastor Joe”, while Monday found him in his old work clothes finding parts for a water pump to test a freshly drilled well on a new property. He’s (thankfully) in his element in the middle of chaos and his love for the team will change his plans and schedule as he meets new logistical demands daily.

I’ve failed at getting pictures of Joe at work, so I’ll show you how the day usually ends.

For everything we know about God’s Word is summed up in a single sentence: Love others as you love yourself. That’s an act of true freedom.
Galations 5:14

We are in the process of mapping out some exciting travel plans for the near future.
As we look at where we’ve been and where we are going we are constantly reminded of the team that is involved in our work. Our team around us here and our team at home sending us. For every one of you who have supported us we are so grateful. We pray for you and love hearing from you.
We’ll be announcing our (very quickly) upcoming plans in our next newsletter!
