Mirrors in the Word of God often refer to enlightenment and truth. We are meant to look into God’s Word and, like looking into a mirror, what is reflected back to us is what God sees.
For example, we gaze into His truth and we see that we are people of faith and that our trust is in God. When things happen in life and we feel fear, and we fret about the future, we are that person who has walked away from the mirror of the Word and completely forgotten that we are people of faith. We have forgotten our divine origins and all the promises that He would be with us in trouble. When we begin to “gaze deeply into it” – God’s mirror, the Bible – and then respond to what we are seeing reflected back at us, the scripture says we are strengthened.
So, let’s look into His Truth, see the people of faith that we are and respond to that truth by choosing to trust God. The mirror of God’s Word doesn’t only show that we are people of faith, but of love, joy, peace, holiness, integrity, kindness, self-control, etc. Let’s not walk away from God’s mirror and forget that we look like those things as well. The beauty of God’s mirror is that we are everything He says we are. The “gazing deeply into it” part is up to us.
Today, look intently into the mirror that is God-given and see yourself the way He sees you.
